Expectations
Discussion forums are an integral part of this course. Participation in these discussions will increase your knowledge of the course content and help you meet the course's learning outcomes.
It is expected that you will post your response to the discussion topic by the midpoint of the week (Thursday at midnight at the latest). You will then use the rest of the week to reply to your classmates' postings and engage in meaningful dialogue with them. For each discussion you are required to reply/converse with a minimum of three classmates.
Some things to keep in mind when posting:
- Your contribution to a forum must be more than a mere statement of agreement or disagreement with a position. Justify and support your opinion. The most persuasive opinions are those supported by evidence, examples, reasons, or facts.
- Do the appropriate preparation (reading, viewing, completing exercises) before you join a discussion. Indicate the sources you may have used so that others can evaluate or refer to them.
- You may disagree, but when you do, express your disagreement in a respectful manner. Try to be positive when critiquing the ideas of others and be gracious when your own ideas are critiqued.
Assignments are expected to be submitted on time, if you have problems ...
Midterm and final exams must be invigilated, you will need to arrange for an invigilator and it is HIGHLY recommended you start the process at least 1 month prior to the exam. Information about exam invigilation can be found here.
