Dear Faculty,

The eLearning team has processed almost all Fall 2024 courses and is preparing to enroll students into their courses. We kindly request that you take a moment to review your course shells for any required changes or updates to ensure a smooth start to the semester.

  1. Review of Fall Course Builds

Please consider the following and let us know if you require any adjustments by Friday August 9th:

    1. Are you able to see all your assigned Fall 2024 courses?
If any courses are missing, please email us with the course name and specify your preference about copying the course content from (i.e. Fall 2023 shell, Winter 2024 shell, Blank/UDL Template, etc.).

Please Note: The CITL has been promoting a NEW UDL Template based in Universal Design for Learning principles. The deadline to request the template to be merged with your Fall 2024 course is August 15th, 2024.

    2. Do the course shell settings appear satisfactory to you? (In terms of basic course content, course titles, start date and end date etc.)

    3. Does the section structure/combination of the course align with your expectations?
We have not yet uploaded students nor created ILP groups so these will not yet appear in your group lists. But you might have a sense of how many shells you should have.
(i.e. One course shell for all sections, Separate course shells for different sections, etc.)

If you have any further requests or specifications regarding the course creation process for your Fall 2024 semester courses, we welcome your input. Please contact cotronline@cotr.bc.ca  with the subject line: "Fall 2024 Course Review" by August 9th.

If everything looks great, you can get started with your recently copied course using the attached checklist and our course updating guidance in the Faculty Help Manual.

  2. Server Renewal and Course Outline updates
    1. Check all URLs/Links to COTROnline course pages - All COTROnline URLs are new so pre-existing bookmarks or links between course shells will now be incorrect. We cannot guarantee our central redirects will cover all possible locations.

    2. Messaging history retrieval - The server transfer could not move individual messaging or notification history. Please reach out to the COTROnline team to request a record of any specific messages you require access to.

    3. Course Outlines moving away from Sharepoint - The Registrar will be in touch soon about the new Course Outline location. As a result, your Course Outline link will need to be updated in your Course Homepage.

As always, if you have any questions about anything mentioned in this email, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly, come visit us in the Learning Commons, or give any one of us a call/Teams message. We will be happy to help you with this process.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to your responses.
